Frequently Asked Questions:

1) Is this a travel team?
Young Trojans is a county/rec based program. However, there will be times when an exceptionally talented Young Trojans team is entered in 1 or 2 summer tournaments to gain additional experience.
2) Are there tryouts/evaluations?
The goal of the Young Trojans program is to set each player up for success as best as possible. In order to do this, we feel evaluations are necessary for any age group that has multiple teams, or if a player "playing up" is being considered; this will help our teams remain competitive and also challenge our players to improve. We do not follow the "all teams are equal" model.
3) Is this program for York Suburban students only?
Young Trojans is meant to be for York Suburban students only, however, there may be times where non YS students will be allowed to play as an exception. This will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
4) Can my son play for Young Trojans and his travel team?
It is the goal/opinion of the Young Trojans program that all players make Young Trojans the priority during the spring season. Players are encouraged to gain additional experience and practice reps on days that Young Trojans does not have a game or practice, including through travel teams. York County league rules do not allow players to be double rostered in most cases, and therefore, an individual cannot play on both their travel team and for Young Trojans during the county season. Any player participating in a travel tournament/event during Young Trojans' season is asked to communicate with the coach so that topics such as pitch count can be managed appropriately.
5) Is financial assistance available for those that cannot afford registration fees?
Financial assistance is available on a case by case basis. Please contact us to discuss further.
